What can I say? First off the range is brilliant! LEGO really do have something for everyone, whether you are 2 and crawling or just used to crawling home on a saturday night ; )
Personally I am a Lego Technics fan - back in the Christmas of '97 Santa gave me 8459, The Pneumatic front end loader. I played with it for hours and was amazed by the pneumatic rams and moving pistons! Here are a few pics courtesy of another nice chap who has one- http://www.elwoodsgallery.be/Sets/8459/8459-1/html.html
So fast forward to 2012 - we start selling Lego and I have racking brimming with Lego Technics! Where to start? Like any man I reached to the top shelf - the biggest and best - The Lego Technics 8043 Motorized Excavator!
So fast foward again to 5pm that evening.
5.5hours, 1200 pieces and 3 x 80page instruction books later - here we have it. The completed (bar Decals) 8043 excavator.
I had forgotten to buy batteries, so after 10mins pinching AAA's from all of the TV remotes I had a fully working Model. Its very impressive, Both tracks move forward and back independently, the whole upper assembly spins 360 degrees in either direction and the digging arm moves in 3 places! I was up till gone 11pm pushing and pulling food around the worktop!!
So overall its great - although I wish the outer pieces of the excavator were transparent so you can watch the inners doing their bit. The gearing system in this kit is fantastic, the chap who designed it certainly deserved his pay check that month (or year most likely!)
So there we have it, I think the 8110 Unimog is next on my list!
We are proud Lego Stockists - See the full range at our website.
